What proxy speed depends on
The final speed comes from seven things, and a proxy service controls only some of them. Knowing the rest saves diagnostic time: half of all "slow proxies" turn out to be the target site or the local connection.
Throughput
Throughput is how much data a connection carries per unit of time. It matters most when loading pages full of images, files and other heavy elements.
But high throughput does not guarantee an instant response if latency between you and the server is high: these are two independent parameters.
Ping and latency
Ping is the time it takes for a request to reach the server and the answer to come back. The lower the latency, the faster sites, browsers, applications, APIs, SEO services and automated systems feel.

A proxy cannot make a third-party site answer faster than its own infrastructure allows. Slow loading can come from the target site’s server, its own restrictions, heavy pages, the network route, regional nodes or temporary load.
A practical tell: if one site opens quickly through a proxy and another slowly, the proxy is almost certainly not the problem.
Your own internet connection
The final speed cannot exceed what your local connection, hardware and software allow. A proxy adds a leg to the route; it does not widen your channel.
