HTTP proxy
An HTTP proxy is built for web traffic: pages, ordinary browser activity, HTTP-based API calls. It is the type understood by the system "Proxy" field in Android’s Wi-Fi settings, which makes it the fastest option to configure for browser work — no extra software required.
HTTPS sites do open through an HTTP proxy. The client establishes a tunnel with the CONNECT method, and the contents stay encrypted between the phone and the site — there is no separate "HTTPS proxy" to buy for this.
System Wi-Fi settings are convenient when you need to check a site from another country, look at regional search results, or route browser traffic through a proxy for the duration of one task.
Main limitations
- the setting is bound to one specific Wi-Fi network and has to be re-entered on another;
- it does not extend to mobile data;
- apps with their own network stack may not use it;
- traffic that is not HTTP-based will not go through it.
SOCKS5 proxy
SOCKS5 works a level lower: it does not parse HTTP requests, it forwards the TCP connection as it is. That lets a wider range of traffic pass through it, not just web traffic.
The price of that flexibility is setup. Android’s standard Wi-Fi interface has no field for SOCKS5: the address is entered inside the application that supports SOCKS5, or through a compatible proxy client or a local tunnel.
A practical rule of thumb: if the task lives in a browser, take HTTP. If a specific program with its own "proxy" fields will be doing the work, SOCKS5 is usually the more convenient and more universal choice.

Proxy with a Russian IP for Android
The search "Russian proxy for Android" almost always means one thing: an IP address located in Russia.
A "Russian proxy" refers to the country of the IP address, not to the interface language. The language of the dashboard, the site or the support chat has no bearing on geolocation: a service can be entirely Russian-language and sell addresses in ten other countries.
Availability of a Russian IP has to be checked in the catalog before purchase, because the set of locations changes. The block below reflects the current state of the catalog, not what was true when this text was written.
Geolocation is determined by external IP databases, and different lookup services can report slightly different data — sometimes a different city while the country is correct. There is no single registry mapping addresses to points on a map, so small discrepancies are normal.

How to set up a proxy on Android
What you will need
Everything listed here is issued after payment and available in your account, in the Orders section.
- IP address or host
- A string such as 203.0.113.10 — the proxy server address.
- Port
- The number issued with the address. HTTP and SOCKS5 usually use different ports.
- Login
- The username used to authenticate on the proxy.
- Password
- The authentication password. Do not share it with third parties.
- Proxy type
- HTTP or SOCKS5 — chosen at purchase, and it determines the setup method.

Copy the values from your account in full: a stray space at the start or end of a line is the single most common reason a proxy appears "not to work".
Setting up an HTTP proxy over Wi-Fi
This method works for HTTP proxies and needs no apps. The setting applies to whichever network you select in step three.

How to connect a SOCKS5 proxy
Android’s standard Wi-Fi interface is built around a system HTTP proxy and has no separate SOCKS5 field. SOCKS5 is therefore connected outside the network settings, in one of the ways below.
- Configuration inside the app — if the program has its own section with "proxy", "SOCKS5", "host" and "port" fields, this is the most reliable route: that app’s traffic goes through the proxy.
- A compatible proxy client — a separate app that accepts connections and forwards them to the SOCKS5 proxy.
- A local tunnel — a local port on the phone that converts requests into a SOCKS5 connection.
- An app recommended by the service — if there is a verified combination for your scenario, support will name it and send instructions.
Setting up a proxy for mobile data
A system Wi-Fi proxy does not automatically extend to the mobile network. This is how the platform works: the parameters live in the properties of a specific Wi-Fi network, and mobile connections have no such fields in the ordinary settings.
To route mobile traffic through a proxy you normally need a separate client or configuration inside the application itself — the same route as for SOCKS5.
Which method is available depends on the Android version and the app you choose: the set of options differs between firmware builds.
How to verify the proxy is working
Do not check the browser alone. A full check takes a couple of minutes and answers most of the questions people bring to support.

- Matching country — the detected country matches the location you selected.
- HTTPS sites open — open a few secure sites — they should load without certificate errors.
- Reconnection test — turn Wi-Fi off and on: after reconnecting, the address should be unchanged.

Staying safe when using a proxy on Android
A few rules that remove most of the risk.
What a proxy operator technically sees. Any proxy server, ours included, handles the connection: it knows your IP address, the destination, and the time and volume of the connection. The contents of HTTPS traffic remain encrypted and are not available to the operator.

- Stick to HTTPS sites: the encryption stays yours even when the traffic passes through an intermediate node.
- Do not install unknown root certificates on the phone — that is the main way an outsider gains access to HTTPS contents.
- Do not share the proxy login and password with third parties.
- Keep the connection details somewhere protected, not in unprotected notes.
- Use unique passwords: your account password and the proxy credentials should not match.
- Check the IP after connecting instead of assuming the setting "should have" applied.
- Turn the proxy off once the task is done and it is no longer needed.

What to do if the proxy is not working on Android
Five typical situations and what to check in each.
The internet stopped working after setup
Nearly always a typo in the connection details. Check in order: the IP address; the port number; that the proxy is active and the rental period has not expired; that no spaces are left at the start or end of a field; and that you are connected to the very Wi-Fi network you configured.
If everything is correct and there is still no connection, temporarily set the "Proxy" field back to "None" and confirm the network works without it. That separates a setup problem from a network problem.
No login and password prompt appears
System authentication and in-app authentication work differently. On some firmware the system Wi-Fi field has no login and password inputs at all: the prompt arrives on the browser’s first request, and sometimes it never arrives.
If authentication is never requested, configure the proxy inside the app, where dedicated login and password fields exist, or contact support and we will suggest a method for your case.
The browser works but an app does not
The likely cause is that the app ignores the system proxy and uses its own network stack. Android’s documentation explicitly allows this, and it happens regularly.
The fix is to configure the proxy inside the app itself, if it offers those fields, or to use a connection method that does not depend on the Wi-Fi settings.
The location is detected incorrectly
Geolocation databases disagree: the same address may be reported as different cities and occasionally as different countries. Start by checking the IP in two or three independent services.
If most of them disagree with the advertised country, write to support with the IP address and the name of the lookup service where you see the discrepancy.
The proxy only works over Wi-Fi
That is expected with a system setting: the parameters were applied to one specific Wi-Fi network, not to mobile data. Switch to the mobile network and traffic goes out directly.
